2008 is the International Year of Sanitation which gives added impetus to the Buturi Water Project launched by Devon business woman Judith Smith and her husband Exeter University lecturer Tony Smith. The deadline is the 15th December this year to raise £15,000 to sink a bore hole for clean water to the Buturi, Judith's home village, near the Serengeti Wildlife Park in Tanzania. The initial research was sponsored, we now need further sponsorship and support to meet our December deadline.
How can you get involved? We are looking for sponsorsand your support for the following events;
1. Friday 24th October,
Celebrate One World Week with our Fair Trade Craft Fair, St Stephens Church in aid of
Buturi Water Project from 10 am- 5.30 pm. Buy your cards and presents! Refreshments
available.
2. The Guildhall Shopping Centre, Exeter, 31st October and 1st November,
Information stand, selling raffle tickets and Buturi branded items, such as Tee shirts, pens and
bookmarks.
3. Jambo Tanzania! 28th & 29th November,
The Manor Pavilion, two colourful and
professionally produced shows featuring schoolchildren from Sidmouth and the surrounding
area. The shows are conceived produced and directed by Deirdre Dee, a professional
actress, theatre director and event manager. Tickets cost £10.50 with concessions for
OAPs and children under 14 and will be available through The Village Collection or sold
through the head teachers of all schools involved.
4. Jambo Tanzania on 1st December,
The Exmouth Pavilion with Exmouth Stagecoach,
SouthWest Ballet Arts and local Exmouth schools
Tickets available from Pavilion Box Office
£10.50 with similar concessions to Sidmouth.
